When you search for something in Ares Galaxy, you need to keep an eye on who exactly you’re downloading from. There is nothing in Ares that caps your download speed (except, of course, if you capped it yourself in the control panel), but that doesn’t mean that you’ll always max out your connection.

The reason is that the Ares Network is a P2P network. When you download something, you’re downloading it from other people on the network.

Ares will automatically download the file you want from multiple sources at the same time. Any single source may be capping their upload speed or they may be able to support a high speed transfer, but it is clear that you can only maximize your download speed by downloading from as many sources as you possibly can.

So when you do a search for something, pay attention to the ‘Stars’ and the ‘Users’ tabs and, if you want, click on one of them to sort the results in descending order. If you download a file with 10+ sources/users, you can be almost guaranteed very high download speeds.

Getting High Speeds With Torrents On Ares Galaxy: Choose The Right Sources

BitTorrent is a P2P network, just like Ares. If you’re using Ares Galaxy to download torrents (and you should), you should basically do the same thing as explained above: download from as many sources (here they are called “seeders”) simultaneously as you possibly can.

So, what you want to do when picking a torrent on a torrent tracker is sort the results on seeders in descending order and pick one with a lot of seeders. This way, Ares Galaxy will again give you the best chance on the highest download speeds possible.
