Over the last few years, Ares Galaxy has been experiencing a boom in South America and North Africa, and this has led to many non-English speakers becoming acquainted with Ares, the world’s favorite file sharing application. While you can change your language of choice during installation, it’s quite possible that you made a mistake there, or simply missed the opportunity.
Fortunately, Ares supports a number of languages straight out of the proverbial box, and it allows you to switch between different languages after you’ve already installed the program and have been using it for a long time. Read on to learn how to localize your program, and discover a few other tips and tricks you may not have heard about before.
Changing The Language In Ares Galaxy
The option to change the language in Ares is conveniently placed under the general tab in the Control Panel. A click on the arrow next to Preferred Language will bring up the list of supported languages, which includes some of the planet’s most widely spoken languages.
Selecting any of the languages in this list will immediately go into effect, without you having to restart the program, and will automatically update Ares to a language you’re more comfortable with (or are trying to learn).
Skinning Ares
Everybody likes skins, and the best software on the internet supports skinning. With a skinning option, people aren’t stuck with the default look of the program, and they can easily and painlessly change the look of their program. Ares Galaxy is, of course, no different, and supports seven different skins, with more being downloadable.
The skin menu can be found in the Control Panel, under the skin tab, and will allow you to switch up your Ares experience by changing the look entirely. Note our current favorite in the following screenshot: the Mac style skin.
Pausing Video When Moving between Tabs
Another good tip for Ares is useful for when you use our program not just to share and download files, but also to watch the video files you download with it. Ares is such a good media player that it’s sometimes easy to forget that you’re watching videos inside your file sharing program.
So it may happen often that you’re watching a video, and then decide to quickly check up on your transfers or do a quick search or see if someone replied to a chat message in one of the different tabs. By default, the video will keep playing, and you’ll have to rewind the media file again to where you were if you’re obsessive-compulsive like us and you don’t want to miss a single second of the videos you’re watching.
If this sounds familiar, you really should turn on the ‘Pause video when moving between tabs’ option! It will do exactly what it says it does, and make your life much easier if you use Ares Galaxy for a wide variety of activities, including watching videos. The option can be found in the General menu in the Control Panel.
