One of the ways Ares Galaxy distinguishes itself from other pieces of software on the Internet – apart from the fact that the Ares free download is entirely free of charge – is its powerful integrated library. Some great functions hide behind the simplicity of the library, so we’ll focus today on explaining some of them to make sure you’re getting the most out of Ares Galaxy.
Adding Comments To Files
The Ares Galaxy library allows for every file to be inscribed with extra information, such as category, author, language, date and URL, and also provides some room for extra comments. While this may not seem like a big deal, it can be extremely helpful for people who have large amounts of similarly titled files. You can add the comments by clicking on the “Details” button to the right of the search function.
As you can see, the details are automatically added to the detailed view in the upper panel, allowing you to sort your files based on name, category or date, regardless of the name of the files, or the metadata of mp3’s or mkv’s.
Finding Similar Files
If you’ve downloaded certain documents or music that you enjoy, you can easily look for similar files from the same author or in the same genre by simply right clicking on a file and then selecting the “Find more of the same” option and clicking on either Artist or Genre. This will bring you directly to the Ares Galaxy Search menu from where you’ll just be a few clicks away from discovering similar music, documents or videos.
Sending A File Directly To The Playlist
If, like many others, you use Ares Galaxy not just to download your files, but also to play them, this may be particularly of use to you. Your playlist is integrated in your Ares Galaxy media player on the bottom panel of the screen.
In the screenshot, the button to bring up the playlist is marked by a blue circle on the bottom of the window, in between the stop button and the sound option button. If you click this, it should bring up the list of files that are playing at that moment, if any.
The button on the top of the window, in between the Delete button and the button to rescan your library is the one that you can click to add a certain file to the playlist. It is marked by a red circle.
Sharing A Specific File With A Friend
You can share a specific file with a friend who is also on the Ares network by selecting it in your library, right clicking on it and selecting the option “Export Hashlink”. This should bring up a textfile with a few hashlinks which you can then just copy and send to your friend. If he or she then enters the hashlink in the Hashlink menu in the Control Panel, they will start downloading that exact file, thereby eliminating the risk of potentially downloading the wrong file.
